The 6th Guanzhong Mangba Arts Festival

The 6th Guanzhong Mangba Arts Festival is an art event centered on rural life, aiming to showcase the richness, diversity, and artistic value of rural culture. The key visual of this edition continues and further develops the tradition of previous festivals. Stylistically, it remains rooted in the local landscape and folk culture of the Guanzhong region, using bright colors and highly energetic imagery to visually convey the diversity of rural culture and its inherent artistic vitality.

The Festival marks the end of the summer harvest, a significant moment in the agricultural calendar. Taking inspiration from the idea of the “Capital of Carbohydrates,” wheat-based foods are used as the central motif throughout the poster series. Crops typical of the Guanzhong region—such as wheat and corn—are combined with familiar rural animal imagery, then reinterpreted through concise geometric forms. This approach fully expresses the fusion of Guanzhong’s rural natural landscape with contemporary art that defines the festival.

The typography is designed to be lively and playful, reflecting the tradition of villagers visiting and gathering during the Mangba celebrations. It also embodies the core concept of the Guanzhong Mangba Arts Festival: audiences can stroll through the village and encounter artistic activities taking place in different corners of the community. Through bright and dynamic visual design, we aim to communicate the value of rural culture to a wider audience, while conveying the idea that “art cannot be defined, nor should it be defined,” and to bring a vibrant, large-scale art festival to the local area.
