The Prelude Exhibition of The First Shanghai Graphic Design Biennale – TopoPoster: International Poster Design Exhibition, after six months (June – December, 2025) of planning and preparation, was successfully held from December 13 to December 22, 2025. As one of the larger-scale exhibitions in recent years featuring an international selection of works in China, it showcased over 300 representative poster designs from 153 influential contemporary designers and studios active in the forefront of the field across 28 countries.

How was the poster created :
This series of generative posters was created through programming with After Effects and laid out for print media using InDesign. The 120x176 cm poster is designed at the same scale as the graphic components (structures, texts, images) used throughout the exhibition's scenography.

What is the poster concept :
The concept of this series of posters was to echo the random protocol implemented by the association Approche during their meetings with agencies to discuss the graphic design research process. The discussions were initiated using a set of polysemous words placed in a container and drawn at random to spark conversations. These words included "tools, printing, collective, constraints, etc."
