The Prelude Exhibition of The First Shanghai Graphic Design Biennale – TopoPoster: International Poster Design Exhibition, after six months (June – December, 2025) of planning and preparation, was successfully held from December 13 to December 22, 2025. As one of the larger-scale exhibitions in recent years featuring an international selection of works in China, it showcased over 300 representative poster designs from 153 influential contemporary designers and studios active in the forefront of the field across 28 countries.

- Are there “feminine” visual forms, fonts, and materials? Does the “female” social imprint influence design? The answer to these questions is complex, but one thing is clear: the choice of typeface has a significant impact.

The collective @flint_ype makes FLINTA* type designers visible, archives their work, and invites conversations around marginalization in graphic design. They shared insights into their process during the lesson. @charlotte__rohd also joined the talk and discussed her design practice.

The poster for the event at F+F in Zurich – originally designed as an installation – addresses questions around materiality and visibility, and encourages reflection on patriarchal structures in design.
