The Prelude Exhibition of The First Shanghai Graphic Design Biennale – TopoPoster: International Poster Design Exhibition, after six months (June – December, 2025) of planning and preparation, was successfully held from December 13 to December 22, 2025. As one of the larger-scale exhibitions in recent years featuring an international selection of works in China, it showcased over 300 representative poster designs from 153 influential contemporary designers and studios active in the forefront of the field across 28 countries.

Assembly–Interventions in Public Space

Urban spaces are infused with visual communication such as directions, signs, and advertisements. This condition of urban life is reflected in three poster designs for Assembly–Interventions in Public Space, an exhibition in urban space by Portikus, an institution for contemporary art.

Conceived for city light posters in a parking garage, each design responds to its site: the first drew attention at the entrance, the second guided pedestrians between the decks toward the exhibition, and the third, placed next to the ticket machine, provided detailed information.

Through distinct layouts, typographies, and color concepts, the three works seem to serve different communicative functions, yet all point to the same project.
